The current version of BMW's classic boxer twin. This engine offers smooth, strong acceleration throughout the rev range while dramatically increasing peak horsepower numbers compared to its predecessor. BMW tunes the engine differently depending on the application. Low down grunt for the GS, top end punch for the S and smooth running for the RT. Every one of BMW's R-bikes received a serious upgrade when they were fitted with the 1200cc HexHead boxer engine.
